The league season begins the first Tuesday in April with a 9-hole scramble. Lunch follows at the Yacht club, along with introductions and an overview of the schedule. Generally, there will be a couple of events during the season, including Member/Member, Member/Guest, or Give Back Day (fundraiser).
All events that have an additional fee require a separate sign-up. An event flyer with all pertinent information will be posted on our website approximately one month in advance. The cost for the opening luncheon is not included in your application fee, so we ask that a separate payment be made by check, payable to TVLGA18.
Start Time: Play is a shotgun start.
- April, August and September: 9:00 AM
- May, June and July: 8:30 AM
- October: 9:30 am.
League season ends the last Tuesday in October with a 9-hole scramble. Lunch follows at the Yacht club, with highlights and prizes summarizing the season. At the closing luncheon, the executive board for the following year is announced. The league handbook on the tvlga18.com website describes the board positions and duties. Although not required, most persons serve a 2-year term except the Vice President, who moves into the President position for the 2nd year and Past President for the 3rd year. If you want to serve your league on the board, please contact a current board member.
Points (pro-shop credits)
Each week, players have the chance to win points, which eventually get converted to pro-shop credit. Points are based on the number of players and the type of game being played. Generally, 2 points are awarded to the player earning “Closest To Pin” on the designated hole for each tee color. To determine if you or your team won any points, visit the “Golf Genius” link on the tvlga18.com website.
The board determines an annual amount to be budgeted for point credit. The budgeted money will be dispersed to players in the form of pro-shop credits by the Vice President twice a year (once at mid-year and once at the end of the year). To calculate the value of each point, the VP takes half the annual budget and divides it by the number of points earned during that time frame by all players. Once the value of each point is calculated, the VP uses that calculated number and multiples it by the number of points a player earned. That is how much that player will receive in her credit book (in Chelsea) as a pro-shop merchandise credit.
