TUESDAY OVERVIEW

Please arrive at the course at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start time to practice and sign up for events. Toqua and Kahite have driving ranges, and all 3 courses have a practice green.  Range balls are free for league play, so they should be on the range (if not, inquire at the pro shop).  Please be in or by your assigned golf cart 10 – 15 minutes before play for announcements.  A golf course employee should assist you with your bag and help you find the golf cart for your assigned starting hole.  Other than special events, play is a shotgun start.  Make sure you check in and pay your green/cart fees at the pro shop.  There will also be a table set up outside the pro shop for you to sign up for optional games (50/50, chip-ins, skins) that cost money.

Birdies

The first time you get a birdie during league play, you will receive a birdie ball marker the following week at the check-in table.  Record every birdie during league play on the front of the card, stating your name, hole number, and the word “birdie”.  You will only receive one birdie ball marker, but a volunteer will track all birdies.  At the closing luncheon, she will announce birdie highlights from the season. There is no cost to participate.

50/50 Drawing

50/50 is optional.  To participate, put $1 in the pot for an opportunity to win 50% of the pot.  Make sure to write your name on the drawing list.  Just before play, a name will be drawn.  The winner receives half the money collected, and the other half goes into the league funds.  There is no 50/50 drawing on PIN day.

Chip-Ins

This fund is optional and costs 50 cents.  If you want to participate, put 50 cents into the tin and highlight your name on the alphabetical list next to the tin.  If you get a chip-in during that day’s league play, write your name and hole number on the front of the card along with the word “chip-in”.  If you did not donate to the chip-in fund and you make a chip-in, please do not write it on the front of the card. Each week, the total chip-in money is divided among the chip-in winners.  You may use a putter or any other club to chip the ball into the hole from off the green.  If you win, the following week, your award money will be in an envelope at the check-in table, labeled with your name.

Individual Quota Points for Pin Day

Players will be divided into 4 flights based on index only (tee selection is irrelevant).

Determine target points as follows:

1. Using the GHIN app, determine each player’s handicap for the appropriate course and tee selection.

2. Subtract the handicap calculated in step 1 from 36 to obtain the target points for that player. For example, if the course handicap = 16, then take 36 – 16 = 20. That player’s target point goal is 20.

3. Target points are awarded on each hole’s gross score as follows:

a) Bogey = 1 b) Par = 2 c) Birdie = 3 d) Eagle = 4. e) Albatross = 5 f) Hole in One = 6

The player can pick up at the maximum score for their handicap (net double bogey).

4. Each flight will have 5 winners, with point values of 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1. Ties will be broken as follows:

-Largest quota score for holes 10 through 18.

-Largest quota score for holes 13 through 18.

-Largest quota score for holes 16 through 18.

-Largest quota score for hole 18.

5. At the end of the year, a prize will be awarded to the 2 players who earned the most points for all PIN days. Ties will be broken by whoever earned the most 5-point wins, followed by the most 4-point wins, etc. For example, player A played 6 PIN days and earned 3, 5, 5, 0, 5, 4 = 22. Player B played 7 PIN days and earned 3, 2, 4, 5, 3, 5 = 22. Player A wins, as they had 3 instances of winning 5 points, while Player B had only 2. We will no longer have a low putt winner, so players can pick up to speed up pace of play.
